Blue Skies Cattery About Us

My name is Kristin DuBois and I am the person behind Blue Skies Cattery. On the "About Us" page of our website you will learn some of the personal history which led up to the Blue Skies endeavor.

I was born a cat person and spent all my formative years with no less than two cats in the house at all times. During my young adulthood I, unfortunately, was in a situation which did not allow me to share my home with cats. This changed when I married my high school sweetheart and moved back to my home state of Illinois. I immediately began praying that God would send me a feline family member. He answered this prayer with Bailey, a stray, Ragdoll-copycat kitten.

I was so taken with Bailey's personality that I began searching for a purebred Ragdoll cat. My search led me to Bonnie Hansson who helped me obtain my two purebred Ragdolls, Sunshine and Jazzmine. More importantly she introduced me to the cats she was breeding, Munchkins and their sister breed, Napoleons!

I love that Napoleons have all of the wonderful traits of Ragdolls, with the additional bonuses of their adorable small size and short legs. The best additional characteristic is the way they keep their kitten-like personalities their entire lives! I was sold! It did not take long for Elijah, our first purebred Napoleon, to join the family.

It really only followed that I would want to share this wonderful breed with the world. Thus Blue Skies Cattery was born. Since 2006 Blue Skies has been breeding Napoleons exclusively, in order to continue to develop and advance the breed.

Maintaining a personal and individual touch with all our kittens is very important to us. With this in mind we maintain a small number of breeding queens with only one or two litters of kittens at a time. All our cats and kittens are raised underfoot with tons of attention lavished upon them by me, my husband and our five wonderful children.

We offer kittens in a wide variety of colors.. Our goal is to produce healthy kittens with beautiful medium to long length coats that are especially soft. Of course an excellent personality is extremely important, as well. With each litter we strive to come closer and closer to the "perfect" Napoleon in disposition and physical appearance!

I can't leave the "About Us" page without introducing our other non-breeder pet cats, Onyx and Rufus. They are our "rescue" cats. Onyx was dumped at our vet's office, in the process of having kittens and with impaired vision in her left eye. Rufus was left at the vet's office with eight other kittens. Rufus had a dammaged ear from a bite wound and was just as affectionate as he could possibly be! We just couldn't leave these sweeties at the there without a home, so they joined our big, happy family!
